08/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – The atmosphere of trade talks with New Zealand still looks good (see EUROPE 12203/35, 12180/5), as a team of European negotiators is expected to fly to Wellington next week (13-16 May). Substantial progress is expected, with all topics on the agenda. Some chapters are already well advanced, such as customs and trade facilitation. The chapters on transparency issues, good regulatory practices and sanitary and phytosanitary issues could even be closed at this session, a European source told EUROPE. The next round is already on the agenda: it will be held in July 2019 in Brussels. Agricultural issues, which are among the most sensitive ones in the negotiations, will be discussed at the ‘Agriculture’ Council of the EU on Monday 13 May (see EUROPE 12249/10). (HD)
