11/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – The value of EU agri-food exports in January 2019 increased for the fourth consecutive year to a record €11.2 billion, as shown in the latest monthly report on trade in agri-food products published by the European Commission on Thursday 11 April. Imports of agri-food products into the EU also increased to €10.8 billion, so the monthly trade value exceeded €22 billion, up from €21 billion in January 2018. The trade surplus increased to €0.4 billion from €0.3 billion a year ago. Compared to last year, the value of agri-food imports from the United States increased sharply (+14%). The value of EU imports has also increased for agri-food products from Russia, Ukraine, China, Tunisia and Pakistan. (LC)
