Informal ministerial meeting to unleash potential of creation

The financing of culture and the conservation of cultural heritage will be at the heart of the informal meeting of ministers of culture, which will take place on Tuesday, 16 April in Bucharest.

"Culture has an essential role to play in ensuring convergence and cohesion in Europe, as well as in raising our common values. Taking this into account, one of the priorities of the Presidency of the Council of the EU is to create new opportunities for the cultural and creative sectors in Europe", says the Romanian Presidency, which welcomes the participation of European Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU and representatives of the Romanian Government.

The first working session will give participants the opportunity to discuss measures to unleash the potential for innovation and entrepreneurship in the cultural and creative sectors. They will also consider how to facilitate access to financing in a constantly changing environment.

The second working session will focus on the legacy and dynamics generated by the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. On this occasion, the Romanian Presidency will present the results of the conference “European Heritage - shared experiences and regional specificities”, organised at Sighișoara for mid-April. (Original version in French by Sophie Petitjean)
