03/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – An additional €6 million in humanitarian aid will be mobilised for the most vulnerable populations in Libya, the European Commission announced on Wednesday 3 April. This additional aid will cover the urgent needs of displaced people – food, potable water, education for children in emergency situations and basic health care. In a statement, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, said that “the EU stands by the Libyan people who have suffered years of conflict and instability” and called on all parties to the conflict to allow humanitarian organisations to do their work, in accordance with international humanitarian law. This funding brings the EU's humanitarian aid to €15 million in response to this crisis in 2018 and 2019. (AN)
