After a European partnership and observatory on ‘blockchain’, on Wednesday 3 April in Brussels, the European Commission launched a new international association to encourage global governance and the development of this storage and transmission technology.
This new alliance, known as INATBA – International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications – will aim to develop a framework that promotes public-private collaboration, regulatory convergence, and legal predictability, as well as ensuring the integrity and transparency of the system.
“I welcome the ambitious goals of INATBA, to bring together a wide range of stakeholders on ‘blockchain’ and distributed ledger technologies (DLT) in general to work together with global policy institutions to develop a governance structure that works for everyone”, said Commissioner Mariya Gabriel.
The management board of the association is composed solely of Europeans, including three Germans (Fabian Friedrich, Blockchance UG; Kai Wagner, Jolocom; and Julie Maupin, IOTA) and two French (Nadia Filali, Caisse des Dépôts; and Maike Gericke, Scrypt.Media).
