22/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has conditionally approved, on Friday, 22 March, the acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), a British company, by Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC), a US company. Both entities are insurance brokers specialised in assisting clients in securing suitable cover for insurance risks in specialty sectors, such as aviation and large energy projects. Since the Commission is concerned that the initial transaction would distort competition in the insurance brokerage markets for aircraft operations and aerospace manufacturing, JLT offered to sell its aerospace business to a suitable buyer. Subject to compliance with these commitments, the Commission considered that the operation was compatible with EU competition law. (LT)
