European Union celebrates 8 March with pomp and circumstance

Once is not too often. Women were honoured on Friday, March 8, on the occasion of International Women's Day. Among the many initiatives, Ireland's ratification of the Istanbul Convention against Violence against Women is noteworthy. Or this tweet from Finland saying that it would use its presidency to promote gender equality in Europe. 

In addition, a women's strike was launched for the first time in Belgium. Another was held in Greece.
