08/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – European university networks are proving to be very successful, according to figures provided by the European Commission on Friday 8 March. Three hundred higher education institutions in 54 European alliances have responded to the first pilot call launched by the Commission with a budget of €60 million under the Erasmus+ programme. The first twelve European universities are expected to be selected by summer 2019. A second call for proposals should follow later this year with the full deployment of the initiative envisaged in the future Erasmus programme from 2021 onwards. The objective is to build at least twenty European universities by 2024 as part of the European Education Area. See: http://bit.ly/2NN1Brm. (SPj)
