08/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – Following the official rejection of the European list of high-risk third countries in the field of money laundering by the Council of the EU (see EUROPE 12209/12), the European Commission indicated on Friday 8 March that it intends to present a new list. "We will engage very actively with the Member states on working on the methodology because it is the core of their criticism", the European Commissioner for Justice, Věra Jourová, told the press. She intends to present the "result of this joint work" to the College of Commissioners in June, with a view to having a new list after the summer. The Commissioner also reported a "difficult but open" debate with some of the third countries on the rejected list, including Saudi Arabia and Panama, as well as with the US Ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland.
