European Parliament confirms at first reading its position on market rules for coach transport

Plenary MEPs voted in first reading by a comfortable majority (354 votes in favour, 246 against, 8 abstentions) on Thursday 14 February in favour of Roberts Zīle's report (ECR, Latvia) on rules for access to the international market for coach and bus services.

"We are proposing to open the markets wisely so that the extent of liberalisation is compatible with legitimate national priorities", said Mr Zīle following the vote, which will force Parliament, which will leave the polls in May,...
