Parliament calls for release of human rights defenders

On Thursday 14 February, MEPs urged Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release human and women's rights defenders “condemned for the mere fact of exercising their freedom of expression and peacefully taking up the cause of human rights”. 

The joint resolution of the ECR, Greens/EFA, S&D, EFDD, GUE/NGL, ALDE, EPP groups adopted in plenary by 597 votes in favour, 10 against and 70 abstentions, once again calls for an end to all forms of harassment, including judicial...
