Several civil society actors call on EU co-legislators to protect vulnerable road users

28/01/2019 (Agence Europe)The International Federation of Pedestrians (IFP), the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) and the Federation of European Motorcyclists' Associations (FEMA) called on the co-legislators to protect vulnerable road users in a joint statement on Friday 25 January. This statement is part of the inter-institutional negotiations ('trilogues') between representatives of the European Parliament and the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU on the revision of the Directive (2008/96/EC) on Road Infrastructure Safety Management (see EUROPE 12179). The organisations support the report voted on in the European Parliament's Transport Committee (see EUROPE 12169), particularly emphasising the protection of these vulnerable users and therefore want the co-legislators to move in this direction.
