28/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – Slovakia, supported by Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary and Croatia, asked the Council of Agriculture and the Commission on Monday 28 January to take stock of the 'double quality level' of products. These are products with the same labelling and sold in different EU countries, but with different characteristics. The Commission recalled that the relevant European Parliament committee had adopted its position (see EUROPE 12178) and the results of the experimental campaign: Twenty out of the 64 products tested presented this double quality level problem (19 EU countries asked the Joint Research Centre to test 140 products). "This problem is not a myth", said the Commission, which called on the authorities to take action against the targeted products. (LC)
