09/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – At a meeting in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday 8 January (see other news), Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström and her counterpart, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, also worked to prepare for the trilateral meeting on Wednesday 9 January between the European Union, the United States and Japan. "The Commission looks forward to continuing this cooperation with the United States and Japan over the year", a Commission spokesman told EUROPE. These trilateral talks, launched in 2018 (see EUROPE 12104), aim to explore methods of joint cooperation on challenges to the multilateral trade system and trade-distorting practices. (HD)
