Member States have their mandate on the new rules of the Visa Information System

On Wednesday 19 December, Member States' ambassadors to the EU validated their negotiating mandate with the European Parliament on the new rules of the EU Visa Information System (VIS), which should, in particular, ensure the interoperability of the VIS system with other information systems. 

According to the text, the VIS will not only include information on short-stay visas, but also on long-stay visas and residence permits. The registration of these documents in a centralised database...
