19/12/2018 (Agence Europe) – Having obtained sufficient legal support from Member States and a favourable scientific assessment by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the European Commission, on Wednesday 19 December, authorised the following two Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) from the US multinational company Monsanto produced both for food and feed uses for a period of ten years: - hybrid maize MON 87427 × MON 89034 × 1507 × MON 88017 × 59122; - and maize combining two, three or four of the single MON 87427, MON 89034, 1507, MON 88017 and 59122. The European institution has also renewed the authorisation of the hybrid transgenic maize NK603 x MON 810. These authorisation decisions do not cover cultivation authorisation and are subject to European rules on labelling and traceability. (MB)
