MEPs want Council unanimity on regulation related to protection of EU's democratic values

22/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – In an opinion adopted on Thursday 22 November, MEPs in the European Parliament’s Committee on Regional Development (REGI) amended the decision-making process of the Regulation on the protection of the Union’s budget in case of generalised deficiencies as regards the rule of law in the Member States, so that the Council would be required to rule unanimously minus the Member State affected by the sanction.
