Access to financial information by law enforcement authorities, Council shall adopt its negotiating position

Member States' ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) on Wednesday 21 November gave a mandate to the Austrian Presidency of the EU Council to negotiate on the proposal for a directive to facilitate the use of financial information for the prevention and detection of criminal offences. 

As a reminder, the proposal for a directive, presented last April as part of a package of measures to combat terrorism and crime (see EUROPE 12003), provides for direct access, on a case-by-case basis, for law...
