21/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – MEPs of the European Parliament's Environment Committee on Tuesday 20 November in Brussels supported the European initiative for pollinators, presented by the European Commission in June (see EUROPE 12032) in response to an express request from the Parliament. However, they ask the Commission to go further. They consider that the initiative does not provide a sufficient response to the main problems causing the decline of pollinators, such as land use change and habitat loss, intensive agricultural practices, plant protection products, diseases and invasive alien species. The adopted draft resolution calls for the EU to urgently address the causes of this decline. (AN)
