21/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament and the Council met on Wednesday 21 November to agree on the progress of negotiations on the Directive on transparent and predictable working conditions in the European Union. No specific date has been set for the moment, but it expected to be set around mid-December, shortly before the end of the year holidays - some mention 21 December. Discussions on the dossier will be difficult: the Council (see EUROPE 12046) and Parliament (see EUROPE 12120) differ on the scope of the Directive's scope and, in particular, on the definition of the term 'worker', on the exclusion of certain public officials and sailors or on the deadlines for providing essential and secondary contractual information to workers. A first technical meeting is scheduled for 30 November. (PH)
