16/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission approved, on Friday 16 November, a German measure to support the construction of a fourth generation (4G) mobile communications infrastructure in unserved areas of Bavaria. This aid, worth €85 million, has been granted in the form of funds to the Bavarian municipalities concerned, who can either build the infrastructure themselves or tender its construction to third parties. The use of the supported infrastructure will be open to all interested Mobile Network Operators on equal and non-discriminatory terms. Considering that the measure would contribute to the EU’s connectivity objectives and reduce inequalities in mobile coverage in Bavaria, the Commission has decided to give it the green light. (LT)
