18/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – The Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the representatives of the European Parliament reached an agreement, following a first, last and very short inter-institutional negotiation meeting ('trilogues') on Wednesday 17 October, on the proposal to revise Regulation 1008/2008 on the leasing by European airlines of aircraft with crew to third-party companies. No difficulties were to be expected, as the texts voted by the Parliament and the Council appeared very similar (see EUROPE 12100, 12026). The revision of this Regulation is limited to bringing EU standards into line with its international obligations, namely the EU-US Air Agreement. This is due to the Commission's possible future proposal for a general revision of the Regulation (see EUROPE 11983). Vienna will present the results of this trilogue on Wednesday to the Member States' ambassadors to the EU (Permanent Representatives Committee). (LT)
