18/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Wednesday 17 October, the Brussels committee of the Generation.s movement expressed its wish not to put Benoît Hamon, the founder of the movement, at the top of the list. The reason is that the activists of this committee would like to see the constitution, above all, of a citizens' list in order to bring "the truly democratic singularity of the movement" and "constitute a strong signal of rupture with the personification of power carried by other parties". The committee is not alone and several other committees of French citizens abroad agree, including a committee in Paris. An ad hoc and gender-balanced committee is expected to be launched tomorrow and should soon appoint the head of the list, as well as 40 members from the movement. The other 39 applications will be fully open to non-members, we are told. (PH)
