18/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Thursday 18 October that it had received the support of Parliament and the Council to activate the EU Solidarity Fund for Greece, Poland, Lithuania and Bulgaria. Of the €34 million, €2.5 million will be allocated to the Greek island of Kos following the July 2017 earthquake; €12.2 million will go to Poland following the August 2017 storms and rainfalls; almost €17 million will go to Lithuania following the 2017 rainfall and floods; €2.2 million to Bulgaria following the storms and floods of October 2017. This money will be used to support reconstruction efforts of these countries and cover some of the costs of emergency services, temporary accommodation, clean-up operations and the protection of cultural heritage.
