04/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On 4 October, European Neighbourhood Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn welcomed the extension, until the end of 2019, by the Ukrainian parliament of the validity of the law on special status of certain parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, established in 2014 and since then extended. "This demonstrates Ukraine's commitment to the Minsk agreements! We must see full implementation of the Minsk agreements for a peaceful end to the conflict", he tweeted. The European External Action Service spokesperson meanwhile reiterated that the elections planned on 11 November in the People's Republics of Luhansk and Donetsk ran counter to the Minsk agreements, and the spokesperson called on Russia to fully assume its responsibility in this regard and to use its considerable influence over the separatists it backs to meet the Minsk commitments in full.
