18/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – The former Prime Minister of Finland, Alexander Stubb, has still not decided whether he will put himself forward to become the Spitzenkandidat of the European People's Party (EPP) for the European elections of May 2019. “Situation unchanged at the moment. Reflection on progress. Decision in coming 2-3 weeks”, he tweeted on Monday 17 September. Of the EPP members, only Germany's Manfred Weber has officially declared thus far (see EUROPE 12089). The deadline for applications has been set for Wednesday 17 October. The Spitzenkandidat will be appointed at the EPP Congress in Helsinki on 7 and 8 November (see EUROPE 12086). (MB)
