07/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Friday 7 September, the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) calls for the scope of the Drinking Water Directive (see EUROPE 11952) to be enlarged, as well as for the directive's arrangements to be made tougher – notably on universal access to water for human consumption. The European Parliament's environment and public health (ENVI) committee is preparing to vote on this directive on Monday 10 September. EPSU insists that the arrangements of Articles 1 and 13 (on access to water intended for human consumption) should be strengthened, and it insists on the fact that member states 'provide' (and not 'promote') access to water.
