EU extends its economic sanctions by six months

05/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 5 July, the Council of the EU extended by written procedure for six months, or until 31 January 2019, the EU's economic sanctions against Russia, related to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The measures, which were adopted for the first time on 31 July 2014 (see EUROPE 11133), and then tightened up in September of the same year (see EUROPE 11153), target the financial, energy and defence sectors and dual-use products.
