12/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Union has condemned the air attacks that took place on the Syrian city of Idlib during the night of 7-8 June, killing 44 civilians. "Military attacks can only trigger more violence and fuel radicalism", a European spokesperson stated. In the light of this event, the European Union has reiterated its calls for the resumption of negotiations on peace in Syria under the aegis of the United Nations. "Only a political solution in accordance with the UNSCR 2254 and the Geneva Communique can bring lasting peace in Syria", the spokesperson said. The EU calls for an independent investigation to enable light to be shed on these attacks. (CG, intern)
