07/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – The executive director of the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), José Carreira, announced his resignation on 6 June – a decision that the management board accepted with immediate effect, EASO said in a press release. The EASO management board has now appointed Jamil Addou, a head of unit in EASO since 2016, as interim executive director of Agency. EASO adds that a recruitment procedure for a new director will be launched imminently. Carreira, a Portuguese national, had been under investigation since the start of the year for alleged fraud and irregular recruitment procedures. He was also criticised for cases of psychological harassment, according to Politico. (SP)
