07/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – GDP grew by 0.4% in both the Eurozone and the European Union in the first quarter of 2018, according to a press release published by the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Thursday 7 June. This represents a slow-down in GDP growth, which stood at 0.7% in both areas in the fourth quarter of 2017. Between the first quarters of 2017 and 2018, GDP grew by 2.5% in the Eurozone and by 2.4% in the EU, representing a 0.3% drop compared to its development between the fourth quarters of 2017 and 2018. The growth rates in the first quarter of 2018 differ considerably between member states, with Latvia and Poland seeing their GDP grow by 1.6%, whilst Estonia's has shrunk by 0.3%. (LT)
