07/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – The secretary general of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Luis Planas, has been asked by the new Spanish prime minister, Social Democrat Pedro Sánchez, to take the reins of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, an EESC press release states on Wednesday 6 June. The new Spanish government, which purports to be resolutely pro-European, is being quick to recruit from among the driving forces of the European institutions. The director general of DG Budget, Nadia Clalviño, has been appointed as minister of the economy. (PH)
