French and German farmers call on their governments to oppose cut in post-2020 CAP

German and French farmers wrote to the leaders of their countries on Wednesday 25 April to call on them to oppose any reduction in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) budget from 2021 (see EUROPE 12006, 12009).

It has been suggested that, in its proposals on the EU multiannual financial framework for the period from 2021 to 2027, to be presented on 2 May, the European Commission could call for a 6% reduction in the CAP budget.
