13/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 12 April, the Council of the EU officially endorsed the exceptional annual funding for the European Youth Orchestra (EUYO), following a similar move by the European Parliament in mid-March (see EUROPE 11982). The new regulation will take the form of an amendment to Regulation 1295/2013 establishing the Creative Europe programme, which includes the award of a special subsidy of €600,000 a year for the orchestra until 2020. Founded in 1976, the EUYO allows around 50 young Europeans from across the member states to play together in concerts arranged around the world.
