On Tuesday 6 March, the European Commission announced it was prolonging the existing anti-dumping duties in force since 2011 on imports into the EU of Chinese seamless pipes and tubes of stainless steel for another five years. The duties range from 48.3% to 71.9%, according to the producers targeted.
The review investigation initiated in December 2016 showed that dumping from China continued and that if the measures were to lapse, significant quantities of dumped Chinese exports might be directed to the EU market.
"This initiative aims to guarantee fair competition and gives a bit of air to EU producers, based especially in France, Spain and Sweden", the Commission comments.
The EU currently imposes 53 measures on steel and iron products from third countries, including 27 on products coming from China. (Original version in French by Emmanuel Hagry)
