06/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 6 March, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said she hoped for a "swift and positive outcome" on the arrest and detention of two Greek soldiers who are reported to have mistakenly crossed the border between their country and Turkey due to bad weather. "It is extremely important to have good neighbourhood relations, particularly between two NATO allies", she added at a press conference after the Defence Council. The two soldiers are accused by Turkey of spying. Mogherini stated that the Greek defence minister, Panos Kammenos, had told his counterparts of "the dynamics and state of play" of the situation. She also said that the EU defence ministers had expressed their solidarity. (CG)
