06/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and Tunisia are to reinforce their cooperation in civil protection matters and the management of risks of disasters - tackling forest fires, flood response and search and rescue missions - under an administrative arrangement signed in Brussels on Tuesday 6 March. The document was signed at the sixth European Civil Protection Forum (see EUROPE 11960). Under the agreement, Tunisia will benefit from expert training, the drafting of joint emergency intervention plans and closer cooperation with the EU's Copernicus programme, which provides satellite images of damage in the event of disaster. The initiative is part of the EU's reinforced cooperation framework with Tunisia. (AN)
