Commission confirms its idea of joint health assessments

The European Commission would like greater use of joint assessments focusing on the effectiveness of new medicines and medical devices in comparison to existing products. In a draft regulation presented on 31 January, it proposed that they carry out joint Health Technology Assessments at a European level (see EUROPE 11942). All member states will have to participate after a six-year transition period.
