It will have taken a little more than two years after the Dieselgate scandal and the revelations on cheating by Volkswagen for the European Parliament and Council of the EU to reach provisional inter-institutional agreement on the regulation on type-approval and market surveillance for motor vehicles.
With this agreement, the Commission will ultimately be given a monitoring role with the possibility of imposing administrative fines.
