15/11/2017 (Agence Europe) – In a press release on Tuesday 14 November, the Transport & Environment organisation (T&E) welcomed the European Parliament vote that day on the own-initiative report drafted by Dieter-Lebrecht Koch (EPP, Germany) on vehicle safety (see EUROPE 11904). This text calls for standards to be adapted in the direct field of vision for lorries in accordance with their category and function, in an effort to enhance road safety. James Nix, the director of the T&E welcomed the position taken by Parliament on freight and the climate and declared that the time had come, “For the Commission to put forward a proposal to change vehicle safety rules”. He also approved the recommendations in this report for driving assisted systems. (LT)
