Prolongation of public support measure for combined transport in Italy approved

25/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 25 October, the European Commission approved the prolongation of an Italian scheme to encourage the transition of transport from road to rail.  The aid, which was initially approved on 19 December 2016 (see EUROPE 11693) to run until 31 December 2017, takes the form of subsidies to railway companies operating in freight.  This aims to compensate the pricing of rail infrastructure that does not apply to road infrastructure.  In this decision,...
