17/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – The International Road Transport Union (IRU) called in a press release on Friday 13 October for greater clarity on customs and trade issues after the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union, although the organisation welcomed the White Paper published on 9 October by the British government on these topics. The IRU wants the British authorities to come up with tangible solutions for a transition period. ‘We must not forget that road freight transport is the lifeblood of the European and British economies.’ ‘The possibility of the UK leaving the European Union without a comprehensive deal would be the worst possible outcome for the road transport industry,’ said Daniel Kern, the association’s Brexit officer.
