Whistleblowers, EPP and ECR groups at the European Parliament still oppose direct reporting to the media

Negotiations on the own-initiative report on protection for whistleblowers among the various political groups at the European Parliament are reportedly advancing rapidly.  EUROPE understands, however, that the option of whistleblowers reporting malpractice directly to the media was not backed by the EPP Group at the last meeting of rapporteurs on Monday 25 September.
