26/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – The head of Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, said at a joint press conference with Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos in Athens on Monday 25 September that Greece should be able to make a clean break from the third bailout plan, which expires in August 2018 – thus hinting that Greece will be able to raise finance on the money markets unaided without intervention from the European Stability Fund (ESF). This optimism was shared by Tsakalotos, who pointed out that the Greek government’s aim is to exit the bailout plan without needing another plan. ESM director Klaus Regling said at a Eurogroup meeting in Tallinn on 15 September (see EUROPE 11863) that the rating agencies were now making a positive assessment of Greece, confirming this hope.
