Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov announced on Wednesday 19 July that he had sought authorisation from the European Commission to open negotiations with Russia to have the second branch of the TurkStream gas pipeline between Russia and Turkey under the Black Sea come ashore in Bulgaria rather than in Turkey.
