14/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – Meeting in Jerusalem on Thursday 13 July, the envoys of the Middle East Quartet expressed in a press release their "serious concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza". The envoys – from the Russian Federation, the United States, the European Union and the United Nations – discussed current efforts to resolve the crisis (see EUROPE 11807). On 12 July, the UN published a report ("Gaza - ten years later") about the "unliveable" situation there due to the Israeli blockade and restrictions imposed by the Palestinian Authority. The envoys also discussed current efforts to advance Middle East peace. They agreed to continue their regular engagement with Israelis and Palestinians, and key regional stakeholders. The negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians are currently paralysed. (CG)
