Marine Le Pen's immunity lifted in defamation case

15/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 15 June, the European Parliament decided to lift the parliamentary immunity of French MEP Marine Le Pen.  There are legal proceedings in place against the leader of the far-right group ENF over an alleged case of defamation against Christian Estrosi, the centre-right Mayor of Nice, whom she publicly accused of financing the Union of Islamic Organisations of France.
