On Thursday 15 June, the European Parliament asked the authorities of Azerbaijan to immediately and unconditionally drop all charges against Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Mukhtarli and to release him, along with everyone imprisoned for exercising their fundamental rights, particularly freedom of speech. The journalist was in exile in Georgia, whence he was reportedly kidnapped and sent to Baku, where he is facing several years imprisonment.
