Malmström says US protectionist threat pushing other countries to move closer to EU

On Tuesday 21 February, European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström said that the protectionism of new US President Donald Trump was pushing some countries to turn to the EU, but she warned against a trade war in which everyone would lose.

Trump's protectionism, as illustrated by his decision to withdraw the US from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and by his threats to tax Mexican and Chinese imports, is contributing to this tendency, Malmström states in German...
