The attempt at compromise presented by the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU on Friday 3 February, on the second version of the anti-tax avoidance directive (ATAD), was not enough to conclude this dossier. The Franco-British clash over the exemptions to be granted to the banking sector is still unresolved, but Sweden and Estonia have also reported that the rest of the text is not set in stone, even though the Slovak Presidency claimed that it was in December of last year.
